We are delighted to invite you to the 19th Congress of the International Xenotransplantation Association (IXA 2027), which will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in the Fall (late September or October) 2027. The final dates will be announced in January 2027, but we encourage you to reserve time in your calendars and join us for what promises to be a landmark meeting for the field.

Hosted by Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, IXA 2027 will bring together leading scientists, clinicians, surgeons, industry partners, regulators, ethicists, and trainees from around the world to discuss the latest advances in xenotransplantation and its growing clinical impact.

The field has entered a transformative era. Following decades of pioneering preclinical research, we have witnessed historic clinical xenotransplantation procedures, including heart, kidney, and liver-support xenografts in patients. These achievements have demonstrated the feasibility of clinical xenotransplantation and have accelerated progress into clinical trials. At the same time, important challenges remain, including optimizing genetic engineering strategies, immunosuppression, graft durability, infectious disease monitoring, regulatory pathways, and assuring equitable access to these emerging therapies.

IXA 2027 will provide a unique forum to examine these developments, share new scientific discoveries, discuss ongoing and planned clinical trials, and define the next steps toward establishing xenotransplantation as a safe and effective therapeutic option for patients with end-stage organ failure.

Boston, a global center for biomedical innovation and home to many of the institutions that have shaped modern transplantation and regenerative medicine, provides an ideal setting for these discussions.
